About Me
This is my first ever personal blog. It is a place for me to rant, fuss and yell, before going back into public with a smile on my face. I am really a nice person but sometimes nice people need to rant a little.
I guess I should tell a little about myself.
I live in the center of Colombia S.A.. The weather averages 75 degrees year round. We are in the coffee area of Colombia. If you have drank Colombian Coffee than it most likely came from this area. Colombia is a very laid back easy going country.
While I was growing up my family had very little money. I got my first job when I was 6 years old. The job was picking coffee with my mother to help support the family. At the age of 15 my mother went to Bogota to work and my father sold our house. After the sale of the house he decided to move back in with his mother. I had two younger brothers and two younger sisters. My grandmother was unable to take all of us, so my sister and I were put out into the streets of Montenegro.
Luckily I had friends from school and was able to find a home for my sister. I bounced around from friend to friend while finishing high school.
I do not want to bore you too much with my life, I will skip to the start of my Internet life.
I had heard about the Internet but knew nothing at all about computers and had no idea how anyone could possibly earn money online.
The whole concept seemed strange and impossible to me.
As I grew older
I was able to find occasional jobs here and there but nothing with a future. I felt a strong desire for more than I had and the need to improve my life, but had no idea how to go about getting what I wanted.
After a great deal of introspection, it seemed that the first step to achieve my goal would be to learn English. I began by listening to songs and reading and writing letters in English. At this time, I started learning a bit about computers and learned how to send my first emails.
I spent the next twelve months studying English and learning more about computers and decided it was time to start an online business. A friend loaned me one of her computers. My mother showed how much faith she had in me by putting up her home for collateral to help me get my first credit card.
Since gold in my country was much cheaper than in other parts of the world, I decided to make my first business a jewelry website. In addition, another friend who owned a jewelry store said I would not have to pay for the jewelry until after I was paid by the customer. I built my first website using Yahoo Site Builders and realized the limitations of these types of programs.
Once my site was online
I spent $500 in less than a week on Google AdWords which maxed out my credit card. I, of course, assumed I would get orders that would more than cover this $500 but I did not make even one sale! And thinking about all the debts I had incurred made me start to worry
